In Loving Memory

I have put off this post for too long... mostly because I want it to be perfect to show how amazing my Dad was and how much I love him. But I have decided that words can't really express it anyway, so for now... here is the obituary.

NORTH LOGAN, Utah - Bruce Hoppie, 68, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, from complications related to lung cancer. He was surrounded by the family that he faithfully provided for and loved.

He was born Jan. 28, 1942, in Richmond, Utah, to Robert Francis and Cecil Myler Hoppie. He graduated from North Cache High School. He married Rhonda Lynn Olsen, Oct. 4, 1968. They were blessed with three children, Diana Lynn and Taylor Dearden of Layton; David Bruce Hoppie, of Logan; and Kimberly Ann Hoppie and Kody Rash, fiancé. Bruce also loved his three grandchildren: Carter Bruce, Serena Lynn and Aleeya Cecil Dearden.

Bruce had many friends and was known for his quick wit and humor. Friends and neighbors often sought out Bruce for advice about cars and other fix-it questions. He worked at Logan Manufacturing Company for 28 years servicing snow-grooming machines. Classic cars were his passion. He excelled at drag racing and restoring cars. He won many races and show awards; including first place for the Black 1957 BelAir at the Classic Chevy Club International: Western Nationals in 1988, receiving a silver certificate for 904 out of 1000 points. Attending car shows provided many wonderful family vacations and cherished memories.

Bruce faithfully supported his wife in many church callings and sent all three of his children on missions to share the gospel. Bruce taught his family the value of hard work and service. His wife and children felt his unconditional love and support.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rhonda, and his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Janet Hoppie, sister, and half-siblings, Edith Wilson, and Junior Hoppie.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ben-Jacob and his exceptionally caring staff and Alpine Hospice for their loving care.

A viewing will be held from Monday, March 01, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Allen Mortuary of North Logan, 420 E. 1800 N., North Logan. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 02, at 11 a.m. at the North Logan Second Ward Chapel, 1105 E. 2100 North, with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment is in the North Logan Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.

"I love homework!"

Carter is sitting at the counter coloring the quilt on his "Q" page and he says, "I love homework." I am sure that this quote is going to be very handy in the future...like when he is in High School.

Cleaning up is fun to do!

I took this picture because both of the girls were in the laundry room cleaning. The laundry was all out in piles and Aleeya has put most of it back into the hampers. Serena has a wet wipe and is scrubbing away! I hope they keep up this love of cleaning!
This picture shows Aleeya picking up the magnetic dress-up doll pieces. The funny thing is that we were all sitting there playing with them and she was just busy picking them all up!

Living Planet Aquarium

Our field trip today was to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy. The kids ran from exhibit to exhibit. Serena's favorite was the sharks and Carter liked the electric eel. Aleeya was the only one that wanted to put her hands in the water in the exhibits were you could touch the animals.

For lunch we had planned to go to the Mayan, but it is not open until evening, so we went to Spaghetti Mamas. They were kid friendly and Carter loved the food. My friends asked him if he liked it and he said that the root beer, bread sticks and pizza were making his taste buds do the merango (merengue). He is one funny kid.

Carter took this picture. He was going crazy with the camera and took tons of pictures, some are pretty good.

Serena went back to the frog exhibit several times.

Carter being a sucker fish.

Aleeya loved climbing up on the ledge, but still was too short to see.
